Letter From Campaign ChairFrom Brian Daniel2011 Campaign Chair We are fortunate to live in a community where so many different organizations do so much to improve our quality of life. With a large number of agencies serving a wide variety of urgent needs it can at times be a challenge to find the right place to get involved in a way that really makes a difference. That’s what makes the United Way of Hall County so special; supporting 16 local charitable partner agencies our organization is the best way to make a substantial impact on the lives of the people who need it most right here in our community. Our vision is that United Way will be a driving force to create sustained changes in community conditions. Beyond simply providing funds, the mission of United Way is uniting people, organizations and resources to improve lives in Hall County. Every day we're focused on the fundamentals of improving lives in our community. Hundreds of volunteers, passionate executive directors of non-profit agencies, community partners and United Way staff work together to improve lives in Hall County. This year our campaign theme is “Live It!” We want to ask you to not just wear the Live United t-shirt but to live it. We invite you to be a part of the change. You can give. You can advocate. You can volunteer. GIVE. When you give to United Way of Hall County, you immediately become part of the collective power of generosity. We recognize that everyone has a different desire and ability to give. Regardless of the amount of your contribution, United Way promises to combine your tax-exempt gift with others to improve lives in Hall County. Kristin and I give through weekly payroll deductions and enjoy knowing our dollars are making a consistent impact on those around us. ADVOCATE. Anyone can be an advocate to advance the common good. Tell a neighbor about a program that provides health care for those who can’t afford insurance. Support the Campaign in your workplace by talking to coworkers about United Way. Learn about child abuse and neglect and how it affects everyone. Talk to friends and family about ways to give and opportunities to volunteer. Please join me this year in spreading the word about the work the United Way is doing in our community. VOLUNTEER. Volunteering can be anything from one day a year, a few hours a month or a regular weekly commitment. If you are not volunteering now, find something you're passionate about and get involved. You'll be amazed at how much you get in return. There are many ways to volunteer. Volunteering can be as simple as attending an event, a one day project or mentoring a child for a year. My family volunteers time with a partner agency, and we enjoy the time spent together giving back as a family. Come alone, bring a friend, or bring the whole family - volunteering is a fulfilling way to give back. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this community as chairman of the 2011 Annual United Way Campaign. I'm asking you to GIVE if you can, to ADVOCATE to anyone who will listen, and to VOLUNTEER your spare time. I'm asking you to join me and LIVE IT – working together we can make a difference here in Hall County!
